After owning and operating Chez Vous, a successful catering business in Bedford, New York for 12 years, I "retired" to Vero Beach, Florida.
I promptly had a mid-life crisis and desired a high-end bakery.
Chez Vous was known for fabulous desserts, both beautiful and delicious. Ten years in the fashion business (following graduation from Parsons School of Design) had taught me the importance of presentation, as well as quality of goods.
A totally sumptuous finale to a meal was decidedly unavailable in Vero Beach. The local sweet tooth was "satisfied" via a variety of uninteresting, seldom tasty and never pretty, desserts. Not to mention the list of ingredients, which were chemical and unpronounceable. And further, what was a bride to do when her big day came?
Tartine offers what is most important in food: pure ingredients, taste and elegance. We use farm-fresh eggs, extra heavy cream, organic fruit when we can, plus imported chocolates and cheeses. The finished product is worth every smiling calorie.
