In 1979, Carlo and Rosemarie Toros and their love for antiques moved from Rio de Janeiro to Palm Beach, Florida. Once settled, in 1980, they decided to share their passion with the world and opened L'Antiquaire on Worth Avenue. They relocated the store to a larger location on Worth in 1982, where it still resides.
The Toros had a long and successful life with L'Antiquaire in Palm Beach. They built a world-wide clientele, who came to know and love their quality antiques, as well as the two little schnauzers who welcomed customers to the store. In 1994 however, they decided to sell the business to Joe Dunville, a businessman from Detroit, Michigan, who loved antiques as much as they. The Toros stayed with Joe until 2001 when they finally decided to retire to their homeland, Italy. Today, Joe offers the same quality of service and selection as ever for beginner collectors and experts alike.
